Smoke Ventilation

ADS designed, supplied and installed a smoke ventilation system to the new Pontefract Hospital which was part of the Pontefract & Pinderfield Hospitals Joint Venture (PPHJV).

The main atrium area comprised of high level, polycarbonate louvred ventilators and low level replacemnet inlet air using chain actuators onto the windows. ADS provided a control system comprising of local control panels, mimic panels, electrical wiring, local switches and sensors to allow the system to operate primarily on smoke detection and also for natural ventilation in the summer months.

ADS also provided smoke shaft ventilation to protect lobby areas adjacent to the fire fighting stair cores and head of stairs ventilators and control panels to the numerous escape stairs.
