Our History
1993
Following success at major Smoke Ventilation companies, Alan Clare formed ADS on the 28th June 1993 by and received our first order for £706.00 from Fenland Laundries.
1994
ADS employ in house project engineers and invest in AutoCAD line 13 & workstations, an investment worth over £20K.
1995
ADS make a short move across the courtyard from 5 Kingsway House to 25 Kingsway House to create more space.
1995
ADS marketing includes first brochure with ADS branding and Consett Juniors football strips.
1995
Key Project, Siemens North Tyneside for Hathaway Roofing & Sir Robert McAlpine - £380K for the architectural louvres package.
1998
1998
ADS make another short move across Kingsway House to number 27. This would be our base for the next 16 years.
1999
ADS employ our first installation team to give us more control of our resources on site. We now have 7 directly employed teams and sub-contract teams to call upon if required.
2004
New Central server installed to support full new IT infrastructure. New domain name www.adslimited.net and e-mails set up.
2005
Alan Clare’s son Adam Clare joined ADS to work in the Sales & Estimating team.
2005
Key Project, IKEA Distribution Centre for Shepherd Construction - £350K Smoke Ventilation system.
2006
ADS website launch and re-brand
2008
Key Project, IKEA Dublin for RG Group - £380K Smoke Ventilation system. We also returned the following year to complete an extension to the scheme.
2009
Key Project, ExCEL Phase 2 for Hathaway Roofing & Sir Robert McAlpine - £450K architectural louvres & Smoke Ventilators.
2010
Key Project, Pontefract & Pinderfields Hospitals for Balfour Beatty Construction (& Kilpatrick) - £500K Smoke Ventilation systems.

ADS employ Lloyds Law LLP as our H&S consultants and also complete CHAS, Constructionline and Achilles Assessments to demonstrate our commitment to Health & Safety throughout the company.

ADS are celebrating our 25th year in business and we plan for Alan Clare’s retirement after seeing ADS through a very successful 25 years. Adam Clare is made up to MD and ready to take ADS through the next 25 years…
2019
Back on the 3rd December 1999 we gained two new employees who are now celebrating 20 years at ADS Ltd.
2020
A very unusual year for ADS. Whilst dealing with the Coronavirus pandemic, we were also having a record year in terms of sales and turnover. Our attention was firmly on the safety of our employees as we returned to sites and the office re-opened.
2021
ADS completed a full audit with IFC to demonstrate our competance for the design, supply, installation & commissioning of smoke ventilation systems. The SDI 19 scheme demonstrates ADS' capabilities & gives our clients confidence that they are using a quality installer.
2021
2021 was a very sad year for ADS. Tragically Alan Clare passed away in October 2021. ADS had another record year and completed our largest ever contract at HMP Wellingborough.
2022
ADS relocated to our fourth office on the Team Valley. Having outgrown our previous rented premesis, we bought two units that will be our new home. Read more here.
